November 13, 2007 PTO Minutes

Introductions were made of all in attendance.

Secretary Report:
Stephanie Pauley was absent, minutes from October meeting were distributed by Mary Bowe.

President’s Report:
Tina Melvin said the fundraiser went well but did not raise as much money as we hoped.Our approximate profit will be $3400.00, less than half of last year’s fall fundraiser profit.Top seller prizes are being obtained and will e distributed in the next 2 weeks.

New business:
Literacy Meeting – Miss long, Mrs. Johnson, Allyson Walters, Tina Melvin and LisaMahamy met to discuss ideas to promote and reward reading.The books PTO earnedfrom October Market Day sales will be donated to this program.

Fundraiser – ideas and suggestions for a spring fundraiser are welcome.Parents have expressed some alternatives such as bake sales, car wash, etc. instead of the traditional catalog of items for ordering.

Tormasi Benefit – there is a benefit being planned for the Tormasi family by their friends and family members on December 1st.They are accepting items for a raffle, bakedgoods, etc.Look for more information to be distributed.

Vice President:
Paula Eyerman talked to Randy with the City of Delaware about the possibility of Conger PTO running the concessions stand at Mingo during sporting events such as soccer and baseball.There may be an opportunity for this to happen, but would require a commitment of at least 4 -5 years. No decision will be made until after December 1st.Paula will contact someone who had done this in the past to determine profitability of doing this.

Treasurer:
Matt Williams went over the recent credits and debits of the account.We have not paid the fundraiser invoice yet because we have some items to return that were never picked up.Once finalized, we will know our profit amount.Lawyers are reviewing the paperwork for the 501(c)3 and will take another 7-9 months to complete.

Volunteer Coordinator:
Mandy Stabley is working on volunteer schedule for Secret Santa.Many slots still need to be filled.Contact Mandy to sign up.

Principal’s Announcements:
The Pride t-shirts for the PBS program have been very successful.Students are very excited about wearing them to school.PBS is looking into doing its own fundraiser of Conger spirit wear after the beginning of the year.PTO approved $250 for PBs rewards.

Mandy Stabley is working on a food drive for classrooms to donate benefiting the Mid Ohio Food Bank.Non perishable items will be collected in the classrooms. Financial contributions can also be made and are tax deductible.

Conger website home page now has a mail box symbol where you can sign up for the list serve to receive e-mails of Conger news and upcoming events.There are privacy measures in place if you do not want other members to have access to your e-mail address.

The library earned over $2000.00 in books from the fall book fair.Mr. Stewart thanked all of the parents who volunteered and purchased books during this event.

Ohio Reading Achievement test results for 3rd graders are in.Conger 3rd graders set and all time high with a 125 increase in students who scored in the advanced level! This is the highest in and Delaware City School!A total of 33% of Conger 3rd graders scored in this advanced level!Congratulations to the 3rd grade class and teachers for this achievement!

Box Tops / Labels:
Megan Hill said that 5,104 box tops have been cut and will be submitted, earning a check for $510.40.Our goal for this school year is 8,300 box tops.Miss Bik’s class won the contest for collecting the most box tops.

Market Day:
Nick Eyerman filled in for Karla Padget who was running Market day pick-up during the PTO meeting.We had 58 customers in November and a profit of $435.00.We sold over 100 pies.There will be a cookie promotion in December.

Secret Santa:
Mary Bowe reminded everyone that Secret Santa is Saturday, December 8th from 9:00 – 1:30.We have many volunteer spots left to fill to make this successful.We have a few OWU students who have agreed to volunteer.Raffle donations are still needed and being accepted from area businesses and individuals.Set-up is Friday, December 7th from 3:30 – 9:30.PTO will provide pizza and pop for set-up.If you can come and help for an hour or two, it would be appreciated.Volunteers are needed to help with tear-down and clean-up immediately after the event on Saturday, too.We need cakes for the cake walk.Contact Mandy Stabley to volunteer your time or baked goods.

Addition to the minutes:No PTO meeting in December.Next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, January 8th.
