Dear Conger Families

As we prepare for the school year to start I would like to take this time to introduce myself, I am Tina Melvin your Conger Elementary PTO President. I am looking forward to a new and exciting year for all of our students.

Please join us for the Ice Cream Social on Monday, August 24th. This is a great opportunity to meet the teachers, administration, and PTO members. The PTO will be there to answer any questions you may have and we look forward to meeting the Conger Parents.

I want to extend to each of you a personal invitation to join me in the PTO. Membership is extended to all families and caregivers for the students of Conger Elementary. Conger PTO Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and we look forward to your participation (free babysitting is provided). The first meeting will be on September 8th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

Another aspect of the PTO is parental participation. A parent’s involvement makes a huge impact in the self esteem and quality of education for your child. We are asking that you consider where your time and talents lie and help in those areas. We cannot do it alone. It takes dedicated parents to do all the fun activities we have planned for the children and the families at Conger Elementary.

The PTO has several fun family events planned for the 2008 – 2009 school year. We are planning several movie nights and planning to work with the school on two book fairs as well. The Conger PTO will be hosting Secret Santa again in December and would like to have as much parent involvement as possible. Check out the other contributions of the PTO here.

The PTO Website continues to improveand it is an easy way to keep informed of PTO activities, contact, and other general information. There is a Calendar of PTO Events for easy review and scheduling.

We raise money by through two main fundraisers a year (fall and spring).  We also have monthly Market Day order that allow you to purchase common food items for your family and provides an easy pickup method, and generates more funds for the PTO.  We collect box tops and labels from participating companies such as General Mills, Campbells, Prego, etc… We have an Abitibi Paper Recycle bin in the rear of the building and the PTO gets cash back for recycling paper.  You can drop off paper products (no cardboard, plastic, glass, etc.) in this bin at any time of the day or evening.

Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas. I will get back to you or find the answer if I don’t know it. I look forward to meeting you at one of our many upcoming events.

Thank you,
Tina Melvin
